Church, Worship, Values

We are guided by this Bible verse:

"Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John 3:18

As a Church of England School, our vision for education is Christian, this vision is for the common good of the whole community.

In Religious Education, through stories, discussions and topic work we explore the teaching of Jesus, ideas about God and create a sense of wonder about the world in which we live. Our R.E. scheme of work also includes the teaching of other faiths.

The school holds a daily act of Collective Worship. This is part of the daily school assembly. On Fridays, we celebrate the work children have done during the week and recognise where individuals have demonstrated the school’s Christian values.

Our local Church is St. Michael’s and All Angels. The Parish Priest Reverend Paul Mansell leads weekly Collective Worship in school and the children visit our local Church at significant times in the Liturgical Calendar including Harvest, Christmas and Easter. The Oxford Diocesan Board provides advice and additional support to the school.

Our school’s core Christian values are: Love, Honesty, Courage, Responsibility, Respect and Hope. We seek to foster our spiritual and moral development within a caring community and work in close partnership with our parents and carers.

Our school values are rooted in stories from the Bible:

A story of
love
(The Lost Sheep)

A story of
honesty
(Zaccheus)

A story of
courage
(David and Goliath)

A story of
responsibility
 (The Good Samaritan)

A story of
respect
(Jesus and the Temple Traders)

A story of
hope
(The Prodigal Son)
