Governors

Catherine O’Driscoll, Parent Governor

I have been a Parent Governor at Leafield School since 2016 and became Chair of Governors in 2020. As Chair, I am responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of the board and facilitating the Governing Body to work as a team to challenge, support and contribute to the strategic leadership of the school.

I live in Leafield with my husband and two children and very much enjoy being part of the community here. My background is in accounts, with experience in both the public and private sector. In 2019, I became the School Business Manager for another local primary school, a position which has enhanced my knowledge of primary education further.

I am committed to ensuring our children receive an enriching and inspirational educational experience that allows them to achieve their full potential.

Charlie Clews, Vice Chair and Parent Governor

Leafield is my first Governor role and I have been in place for just over four years as of 2021.

I’m passionate about the school environment and have lots of professional experience working designing educational landscapes at all levels.

As a director of a small company, I have a range of skills running a business and as a designer and project manager, problem-solving and working as a team come as second nature.

My wife and I currently have three boys at the school so have a busy family life and lots of experiences to draw on. We feel fortunate to have landed here in such a thriving community. I see the tight relationship between the school and the village as of paramount importance and will always look for ways to strengthen the bond.

Frances Bartlett, Foundation Governor

I work for the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education supporting Church of England primary schools and have a background in primary education including headship. I live nearby in Charlbury and very much value the opportunity to serve my local community as well as support the headteacher and staff at the school with useful questions and scrutiny. I have a daughter in Y8 and believe that the gift of education and opportunities for our children and young people is precious. I am a Governor for another school in Milton Keynes and a trustee for an Oxfordshire Multi Academy Trust.

Ellie Hollings, Community Governor

I joined the Leafield Governing Body as a Community Governor in September 2017, around the time that I moved to the village. I am the link Governor for Safeguarding and Pupil Premium. As a primary school teacher who has worked in Early Years and Key Stage 1 for the past 10 years I bring experience, enthusiasm and knowledge of primary education to the board. When not at work I enjoy horse riding and exploring the footpaths around Leafield with my dachshund puppy, Bruno!

Sarah Harston, Community Governor

I became a Governor at Leafield School in 2020.  I live in Leafield village and my children attend the school.

My background is in Human Resources. In my early career I worked as a management consultant, assisting companies with remuneration of employees. I then worked in-house for large global corporate organisations, developing reward strategies, HR policy and employee relations.

Since leaving my HR career in 2018 I have been retraining in horticulture. I now work in Garden Design.

I am extremely proud to have the opportunity to be a Governor.  I'm sure that, as a team, we will continue to help to improve an already successful school.

Jeremy Russ, Community Governor

I moved back to Leafield in 2015 and joined the Governing Body in mid 2020 as a Community Governor. I support the finance and pay committees. I am interested in ensuring that children go to school in an environment that is safe and supportive whilst encouraging confidence and independent thought.

Janey Petterson, Foundation Governor

A Christian and a professional photographer for over 30 years, and living in Leafield for 19 of those. My passions include singing, ceramics, drama and my family. I am currently developing a series of clay workshops/retreat days for all ages. I became a Governor in September 2020.
