Special Educational Needs

We take pride in being an inclusive school and supporting children with different special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder and Speech and Language difficulties.

We work in partnership with parents on the identification of special education needs and will advocate for parents, to ensure their child secures appropriate support from the Local Authority.

Where special educational needs are identified in a child, their name is added to our Special Educational Needs Register; this ensures the child’s progress and level of support is closely monitored and that parents are fully supported by our Special Educational Needs Coordinator.

Some aspects of SEN are based on social and emotional difficulties. At Leafield, we support children with these needs through a range of interventions and through our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) programme and our Play Therapist.

For some families, having a child with special educational needs can bring challenges. At Leafield, we aim to be as supportive as possible to individual families and to play our role in developing the understanding of SEN in our school and the wider village community.

For any specific enquires about SEN, please contact the school office. Our Special Needs Coordinator is Mrs Letitia Merry.

Please find below our SEN Information Report. This report is updated annually and provides detailed information about SEN provision at the school.
